Germany's most famous river bend — Cloef viewpoint and treetop walkway.
Near Mettlach, the Saar winds into an almost complete loop around the forested Umlaufberg — one of Germany's most renowned natural panoramas. The classic view opens up from the Cloef viewpoint in Orscholz, 180 metres above the river.
Even more spectacular: the treetop walk, which leads at canopy level to the 42-metre-high observation tower — with panoramic views over the loop, the Hunsrück and, in clear weather, far into Lorraine. Below, a trip on the pleasure boat is well worth it.
