Car-free cycle route along a former railway line from the Mosel into the Hunsrück.
The Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path follows the route of the old Hochwaldbahn railway, leading from the confluence of the Ruwer at the Mosel for just under 50 kilometres up into the Hunsrück — completely car-free and with a gentle, consistent railway line gradient.
Along the way: viaducts, tunnels, the Ruwertal with its Riesling vineyards and plenty of forest. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, you can freewheel back towards the Mosel — or take advantage of the seasonal cycle buses.
