Olewig is Trier's winemakers' quarter: a village within the city, surrounded by vineyard slopes, with traditional wine estates and cosy Straußwirtschaften, where local wines are served.
The wine education trail leads through the vineyard sites above the village — with views over Trier and the Moselle valley. In late summer, the Olewig Wine Festival is well worth a visit, one of the oldest in the region. On foot or by bike, you can reach it from the centre in a quarter of an hour.
